In other words, technologists, engineers, and architects are now working in close partnership to construct smart buildings or to retrofit the old ones with full suites of control technologies and automations processes and platforms.

These are the technologies that were once considered revolutionary. In the present time however, they are nothing out of the ordinary. That being said, let’s break down some of the key features that define a smart building.

This is one of the latest inventions in the lighting industry, aimed at ensuring lighting efficiency. At the heart of any smart lighting project are the wireless smart nodes. These modules create a mesh network to which we can connect sensors, such as air quality and the security of the building, etc. It is therefore safe to say that they play a key role in developing energy efficient power systems to be used in homes, offices, commercial infrastructures and smart cities.

Better yet, some of these advanced software and applications can also be used to control water flows, fan speed, and pump speeds of your HVAC system, all done to maintain pre-specified temperatures. In other words, your building occupants don’t have to suffer excessive cooling or heating if your with this kind of solution. 

Energy Consumption Reduction

Energy management system coupled with smart meters allow building occupants to program how and when they use their energy. These technologies promise to help cut on electricity costs and make better use of what occupants are actually using. For exemple, the system can restrict use of excessive power during peak hours when there’s a higher demand for electricity. To put it differently, the system allows to shift the bulk of power usage to off-peak periods.
